Universal Cartridge Module Kit - Formlabs Printer Compatible

With this DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Module Kit, you can up-cycle an empty Formlabs cartridge to an Universal Cartridge. The Universal Cartridge enables you to print with any third-party resin in closed mode on your Form 2 & Form 3 printer using any of the Formlabs resin profiles. The cartridge enables all functions like the heater, wiper and auto refill.

• Printing in ‘closed mode’ with 3rd party resins, such as ApplyLabWork, Photocentric 3D, 3DResyns, without limitations and maintaining full functionality of the Formlabs printers.
• This kit will enable Universal Cartridge to print with all functions like the heater, wiper and auto refill. These functions increase part accuracy and quality.
• Using your existing cartridge, this module kit replaces the RFID chip enabling it to be reset up to 10 times for any chosen resin. This provides the user 20 liters of printing.
• It compatibles with Formlabs Form 2, Form 3, Form 3B, Form 3L, and Form 3BL printers.

How to use: To assemble the kit you need to prepare an empty cleaned Formlabs cartridge of your own. The modification requires a basic understanding of drilling and soldering. To install this module kit, you need to drill three holes in a cleaned cartridge, solder two wires and glue the module in place. Please watch these instruction videos:

Any defects related to incorrect installation by user are not covered by the warranty. It is also not possible to claim warranty in case Formlabs releases a fix or firmware update that disables the product.

Do I need this product? The universal cartridge is developed to overcome “open mode” limitations. It enables you to print with exact the same printer functionality as original Formlabs resins. Users of the Universal Cartridge have experienced more consistent and accurate print quality compared to printing in open mode. Several manufacturers developed specialty resins which are not offered by Formlabs. They can now be printed using the full functionality of the machine. Some of the other “closed mode printing” advantages with the Universal Cartridge are continuous printing of >100ml parts without forced stops and weld lines.

Please note:

• While excellent results have been achieved, these compatible resins and the universal cartridge are neither recommended nor supported by Formlabs.
• Universal Cartridge is NOT compatible with FormLabs firmware 2.3.0 update in November 2023.
• Universal Cartridge is compatible with firmware 2.2.0 version.  Download 2.2.0
